Motel Safari

I’m a huge fan of mid-century aesthetic so this place ruled. I like it when places have original fixtures and furniture along with being CLEAN! Loved the attention to detail with the radio on in the room and the TV set to an oldies channel. The sign out front is accurate; comfy beds and speedy internet. And the water pressure in the shower was divine. There’s a cool outside lounging area as well and the lobby is super cute with neat merch and a fishtank wooaohh. Thank you, Rich!

Unique updated 1956 motel on Route 66 that retains its character. We stayed in Rawhide which soooo exceeded expectation. The Rawhide theme, with photos of a very young Clint Eastwood and other cast members was a real trip down memory lane. The western themed furnishing and decor were perfect.|The modern kitchen was excellent. Incredibly well equiped, including a great Keurig pod coffee machine!|This will remain a very memerable stay!

This is a small but amazing place to stay. Throwback in time on Route 66. The room was so clean, better than most brand new hotel/motels. I was a housekeeper for over 15 years. We will be making this our regular stop on our travels. Front desk worker was so friendly and helpful. Bravo

If you are reading this review first and are the kind of person that likes to write one-star reviews, just don't. This is a magnificent retro motel that is carrying on the vibe of the old Route 66 days. Mr. Rich Havlik has been the new owner for just under a year at the time of this writing. I would like to see him do very well and my wife and I continue to stay on our travels between Oklahoma City and Albuquerque. Read all of the other five-star reviews...they will back up mine.

We looked forward to staying here and were glad we made the trip. We opted for the Rawhide suite, a tribute to Clint Eastwood, and it was roomy and comfortable and well done up in a western theme... and only a little more $ than a regular room, in my opinion. Worth it! We enjoyed meeting Rich, the owner, and hearing about his passion for the motel. Tucumcari is pretty sleepy but it has a real Route 66 feel. The Railroad museum and Historical museum were both great... we spent the morning there before leaving town.
