Motel 6 Chambersburg, PA

I reserved a non-smoking room but the first two rooms I was offered had strong odors, partially of cigarette smoke. The carpets in the first two rooms were quite dirty as were those in the hallways. The entrance door to the building where I stayed would not stay closed even though it was supposed to be a secure entrance. The man who staffed the front desk was very accommodating, and checked with me by phone to be sure the third room was acceptable, which it was.

We loved the accommodations; the size of the room and the amenities were great. However, the room was dirty. The floor was not vacuumed well; we found pills on the floor, and the bathroom floor was sticky and covered in footprints. If we pass through again, we will choose this hotel because of the size of the room and the comfy seating that was provided in-room so we didn't have to watch TV from bed. The pool looked clean and inviting, but we did not have proper attire for swimming. Staff was very courteous. Location was very nice; close to highway, food, and gas.

First, the night staff was very friendly. But, the hotel was understaffed and was booked solid. When we walked into our room, there was a bug (cockroach) on the door, but it scurried out. Because we had a very late check in (1 AM), and after we checked over the beds and bathroom and saw that they were decent, we decided to stay. We knew that the hotel was booked solid so they would have no other available rooms. Room was very dingy. There was human hair in the beds, and though they did smell and looked clean, we did not sleep under the top sheet because of that. While looking for an outlet, we found old food on the plugs, and a vibrator on the floor (have photo of this). The next morning, also found crusted gunk on the floor/carpet, and opening the dresser revealed two more live co

We had picked this hotel for the price and the location. We knew we were not getting a 5 star hotel but a clean bed and bathroom would have been nice. The hotel smelled musty and smoky, the room was even worse. We went to the front desk to switch rooms hoping the smell would not be there. Instead we found cockroaches in that bathroom. So back to the first room The carpet was dirty and the towels were damp. We went to close the curtains and they were filthy. All the furniture in the room was either dirty or broken in some form. We have never felt so uncomfortable ever. Yet we were stuck as all the other hotels were booked.

We thought we were getting a non-smoking room, it kind of smells like a clean ashtray. Supposed to get a handicap room, wasn't available when we got there. Had to sleep in a chair, the bed was too soft. Nothing but regular coffee as a breakfast amenity. Other than those few things, there's not much else to say. I gave it three stars, because the lady at the front desk and was very nice.
