Motel 6 Carlsbad, NM

Great Motel 6! Super clean reception and welcoming staff. The rooms are in good condition, wifi is strong, and it seems like most guests are work or travel related (rather than long stay etc) - I am a solo female traveler, so this is important to me. Finally, the location is remarkable - excellent access to Carlsbad Caverns, and Guadalupe Mountains NP, as well as local conveniences like Walmart. There is a working refrigerator and microwave in the room, so you don't have to eat out all the time. Bad things - this isn't the motel's fault, but a neighbor does have a cockerel that likes to crow in the morning. I found it to be a nice local touch when waking up, but if you don't enjoy that then bring earplugs. Otherwise, this Motel 6 is a good one.

The cleanliness of the room was Absolutely disgusting but sheets/towels were clean and amenities worked. There is a zero chance that anyone cleaned this room except changing the linens. But we had a nice shower and all slept well so it gets a 3/5 (would have been 1 star for the cleanliness). |I had written an extensive review that somehow got deleted so this is the abbreviated version.

This place is a dump! It’s disgusting, the tub and floors are dirty. Bugs on the bathroom floor, I’m scared to even sleep in the beds! They charge way too much for how gross these rooms are. 0/10 would NOT recommend.

It was worth the price I guess. Plastic pillows suck. Lots of regulars so if you're coming for the caverns there will be a lot of people that live there. You can tell by the number of grills outside the rooms. We needed sheets and couldn't get them until morning with no specific time. However the receptionist was super cool. She told us a lot about the area. Plastic pillows made me feel like I was in jail.
