Mission Ranch Inn

Pros: Pulling up to the hotel feels like a very peaceful and different experience than your normal hotel, in a good way; Pretty good value for being in Carmel— we paid under $200/night in late January; Room heater works great, which is good on cold Carmel nights. Cons: (Comments apply to the “Main Farmhouse”)— Badly in need of fresh interiors, ‘granny chic’ in a bad way; Mattress will roll you into the center like a hammock; Bathroom virtually indistinguishable from a Motel 6; parking inadequate; Poor natural light; don’t expect to sleep in, the school next door gets noisy; Thin walls, we could hear our neighbors too well; No views at all. We stayed three nights for a wedding. The grounds were beautifully kept and the groundskeepers were nice. The bed was OK if you like soft and saggy, the pillows were lumpy clumps and there was no mirror except in the bathroom (which had no ventilation except the window). The room was stuffy and kept warm by a radiator that was always on low emitting heat. The seating and bed frame creaked loudly and dresser didn’t open all the way. The toilet seat was the wrong size for the toilet. As far as a hotel goes, it was run down and needs an update for sure. Our parking spot was taken two of the three nights we stayed, the front desk was unhelpful and I spoke to the person who parked there and got a story about how they were allowed to park in our numbered spot. I truly can’t imagine a more perfect wedding venue! I lost count of how many guests came up to me after the wedding to gush about how stunning the space was — rustic, romantic, and full of charm. Mission Ranch is perfectly situated near Carmel River Beach, with breathtaking pasture views of sheep, the ocean, and Point Lobos — truly the best of all worlds. There are beautiful on-site accommodations for family, and the rooms are lovely (we stayed in the honeymoon cottage and loved it). The venue itself strikes the perfect balance of gorgeous, rustic, and chic, with a warm, welcoming feel that made the whole evening so fun and memorable. Came here for dinner. The most amazing food, big selection, and outstanding service. While waiting for your reservation you can see the sheep on the pasture. Amazing area for watching the sunset as well!

Location is awesome, the rooms are really nice and large, and the bathrooms are super large and nice. This was bought by Clint Eastwood decades ago and converted into a beautiful Inn. The rooms with the meadow are the best ones, because you can see the ocean and the sheep grazing in the meadow. The front desk gal was kind of grumpy, compare the to the reception you get in Napa valley, but that's okay...she probably had a long day .
