Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Prairie du Chien

We love the options here and great pricing. Most places gouge you when you upgrade to 2 queen room, but not this place. Btw, we've been using the Wyndham app to reserve rooms on our trips, it's so convenient, and fast. We were warmly greeted by a long term employee who clearly likes her job. The laminated flooring in the room was nice looking and clean. Lots of room to put travel items, including window seating. The shower was good, heated up quickly. Sink was in bathroom, which we liked. Good hot breakfast with eggs and sausage, waffles, other items. TV with local news and weather in seating area. Overall, a win!!

I gave this place a two but seems even high. Poor receptionist. No elevator. So carry your heavy bag up 16 flights of stairs. Wasps in the room. Miniature pillows. Paltry seating area in breakfast area. Way overpriced. This is a $100 a night room tops. Not $208. Never again.

Positive: Easy to find Negative: The pillows were too big and hard. The check-in staff told us breakfast was until 10 but we went down at 9:10 and the clerk said it was over at 9 then laughed.

Decent price and the location is fine but the rooms are awful. Dirty and old. Horribly bright white LED lights that feel like a dinghy hospital room. Weird smells. Paper thin walls. Lots of noise from trains and traffic off the road. You can literally see your water shake when freight trains go by. I could ignore almost all of that for a good price. But the beds...the beds are ancient box springs with imprints of past guests having deformed them -- you sleep on a slant, in a rut, and it kills your back because you can't lay straight or flat. You hear the conversations and every little movement of the neighboring rooms so pray you don't have a loud late night family next door like we did. The lobby and breakfast area is sketchy. $104/night for a last minute booking isn't bad, but I'd expect

The front desk lady was very rude and snotty. Housekeeping had left tiny hairs in the bathroom. Pool was okay, nothing extraordinary. There was a hair in the bagels, when I mentioned it to the front desk lady, she said oh. Never went to check or replace or offer a fresh bagel. Told her the guest WiFi password guest didn’t work. She said I was supposed to call the number in the binder and they can get me connected without it. Not impressed. Would I come back? No.
