Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda

We found everything we needed at the hotel during our stay. A quiet place with no street noise. The bed, bathroom, and towels were clean, and everything smelled wonderfully fresh. As for the staff, I honestly can’t remember the last time I experienced such a customer-oriented and friendly approach. The gentleman at the reception helped us with a confusing Booking reservation and even upgraded our room free of charge to one with a fridge, so we could store our food after a long journey. The only downside I would mention is the older furniture in the rooms and the carpets, which are already in great need of replacement. Great little hotel, my first time staying with this brand. Reasonably priced, decent breakfast, friendly staff. Clean room and comfortable bed: what more do you need?

No water on 2/16. It was supposed to be back on at 4:30 pm. Came on at 6, then no hot water. We left today (2/19/2026) and STILL no hot water. Manager said he had 5 plumbers and no resolution. He offered to send us to Days Inn but about 4.5 miles further out. Unreal! Lucky our friends let us use their RV resort shower for 2 nites.

Positive: "" Negative: The air conditioning went out at 2:30am and beeped continuously until 8:30am. I asked the staff at the front desk to switch me to a different room at 3am and they said they couldn’t. I told them the issue and they replied “that’s not my problem”

What made my whole experience a positive one was Ree at the front desk. Any issue I had, she fixed. She certainly gets 5 stars for her customer service. The hotel is a bit outdated, which is to be expected for the price. Aside from that, my room was clean and my bed and pillows were very comfortable. It was a very relaxing stay. My only 2 gripes are that firstly, the hotel only has one elevator that is very slow and the maids are not exactly courteous in letting guests go first. The other is that the key card stops working at 9:00am at the day of checkout, even though check out is 11:00am. The maids will not let you into your room either. So, you have to go back down the slow elevator and have the front desk reactivate the key card, which is annoying and inconvenient.
