Methow Winter Range And Wildlife Refuge

I don't know about the summer rattlesnakes, however, I saw some wolf tracks while I was figuring out snowshoes. I'm just to the northeast of cougar lake at about 4000', I'm pretty sure I stumbled on a fresh mule deer kill around where 220 and 225 branch off right there. Like, could smell a two day old carcass, I could see coming up to it the chase that went on. The deer were tired and desperate, the quicker one left, leaving the tired deer to it's fate. The tired deer made some hail Mary's, leading the wolves straight up hill for a time, then circling. 20' past that I could see the last of the carcass mostly covered with a bit of fresh snow. Anyways, as I'm staring at the carcass I heard a little howl-a-rooni, and realized I was both outnumbered and approximately 1/2 mile from my camp/car
