Wow! It's such a great place to get away. John and all the staff were so great and very helpful. The trails are beautiful. Jumping in a canoe or kayak on the lakes whenever you want was amazing. Night sky was beautiful. The meals were very good, plenty to eat, and options. My husband is gluten-free, and I have food allergies . They always had options. I would return in a heartbeat. The other 'campers'were all so nice. Lots of polite dogs following the rules. It is an all-around great place. Others saw moose, we did not, but we sure had a blast trying. Plenty of beautiful walks for non hikers. Oh, and those chocolate chip cookies....

Staying at Little Lyford is a great opportunity to escape the craziness of life and explore some of the best that Maine has to offer. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable. My single cabin “The Den” has a queen size bed, gas lights, and a woodstove. The bathhouse with hot showers is just a few steps away. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and committed to the comfort and safety of the guests as well as maintaining the quality of the environment. Breakfast and dinner are served family style and a bag lunch is provided. The food was plentiful and tasty. None of us staying there had any dietary requests but those are available. While hiking, I lost a little stuffed trail buddy, thanks to the Madison the manager at Lyford and the manager of nearby Gorman Chairback, I was reunite

We were looking to get out in the woods and staying here will definitely accomplish that. The cabins are authentic, comfortable and spacious. The three meal plan was wondering, delicious and plentiful. They have great systems in place so everything runs like a charm. Very close to the Gulf Hagas trail head, so that is a must while here. We loved using the canoes on the remote ponds. I think we'll have to go back in the winter and try the skiing from hut to hut.

Truly amazing weekend with my 19 year old son at Little Lyford for fly fishing, gravel biking and just catching up. The property is historic, remote and rustic and beautiful, clean and comfortable. We had a cabin with a queen and 2 bunks. The cabin was clean and cute in rustic cottage style. All good is included. It was served family style and was excellent with options for those with dietary restrictions. ||The true reason to come here is the property. It is incredibly beautiful with many nearby outdoor activities. We canoes in the ponds, hiked, fly fished and rode my gravel bike. All in 3 days. ||We came for the AMC Fly Fishing festival. It was extremely well organized. They had Maine guides that could fish with guests. My son is a very experienced fly fisherman and he was blown

Throwback. A tradition of old backwoods Maine sporting camps is given new life by the Appalachian Mountain Club. We loved, loved, loved the simple, off-the-grid rustic cabins and lodge here. A 6+ mile ski from the Winter Parking Lot, it is soooo nice to arrive and find your luggage already sledged in and waiting. To be ushered to your cozy cabin, already warmed by a wood stove, and bunks adorned with warm wool blankets. Old gas lamps in the cabin cast a warm old-timey glow on the log walls. Charmingly rustic. (Rookie mistake though: We left the lamps on too long - 4 hours? and set off the CO detectors. Perhaps add this to the very easy to follow instruction manual?) We borrowed snowshoes and walked across Lyford Pond, enjoyed the sauna, used the showers, and gorged on a delicious cam
