Little Jimmy Trail Camp

Very beautiful campground. I counted 6 bear boxes. Many more tent sites and tables. The easiest way in is .6 miles along a forest service access road. You can also park a little further away on the 2 and hike in via the PCT. I usually access via Crystal Lake area. Permits not required. This is first come first served. Can get full on the weekends. The hike to Mount Islip is very beautiful and must be done. Plentiful water year round from Little Jimmy Springs about 1000 feet away on the PCT.

Relatively easy two mile hike from Angeles Crest Highway. First mile is uphill, after that flat. Pit toilets that are really bad, particularly when the weather is warm. There is year round water at Little Jimmy Spring, but you should run it through your water purifier. Great sunset views from the edge of the campground, and a good camping spot for hiking to Mt. Islip.

Avoid weekends specially Saturdays. Full of scout boys groups. They took all the camping spots and they are loud. It should be more regulated so everyone can use it and enjoy.

First camped little Jimmy in Boy Scouts in the early 90's. One of my favorite camps. No bear boxes back then, just hang your food in a bear bag.

The perfect little campground. The 16 sites located here allow you to know where several of your neighbors are without them breathing down your neck. Each site is complete with a metal bear-box for keeping your food safe from bears and other predators. Plenty of wonderful hikes to experience from here if you make this your base camp! Bring a trowel if you’re staying at Little Jimmy, as the bathrooms on site are either boarded up or home to quite a mess of bugs and other animals.
