La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Tucumcari

My husband and I stayed here on our way to and from the Grand Canyon as Tucumcari is half way for us. We had a nice stay both times. Staff friendly and helpful, rooms comfortable and quiet, breakfast was fresh and tasty. But my favorite was the pool and hot tub! Both were perfect temperature and felt great after a long drive. Location was convenient to highways but take the time to drive around town. People here were friendly. We’ll stop at Tucumcari, LaQuinta whenever we go west again.

We stayed on 01/08 and booked through a third-party website, which unfortunately messed up our reservation. We arrived late at night after a long, exhausting drive, so the situation was stressful. However, the overnight staff member was incredibly helpful and kind. He went above and beyond to help us sort out the booking issue, accommodate the two rooms we needed, and make sure our puppy was also taken care of. His customer service truly made a difficult situation much easier. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was great, and there was a clean pet area where our puppy could comfortably go to the restroom. After all the craziness, we were able to get a good night’s sleep. Friendly staff and beautiful, clean swimming pool and fitness center (although the pool lacks a shower to allow the "required" showers to be taken); spacious, bright breakfast area; slowest elevator ever, but we met a lot of delightful people as we waited for and then rode in it. Conveniently located just a couple of blocks off I-40. |The big negative (and more tech-savvy folks will NOT have an issue with it) was the fact that no one in our party knew how to use the Direct TV remote, nor did we have experience with Direct TV at home or elsewhere. A manual in the room or even a website tutorial would've enabled us to access the TV, as all the help the staff could give was "the housekeeping staff might know how to use it." Positive: The rooms were clean and comfortable. Beds were comfortable too. The desk staff was nice and accommodating…getting us 2 rooms next to each other. Breakfast was great, lots of choices. The location was really convenient and zero noise. Safe area. Negative: Nothing

This was a last minute decision to stop on our way through and La Quinta Tucumcari did not dissappoint. It is pet friendly with a $30 pet fee. It is easily accessible, just a little bit off the interstate. Clean, quiet and comfortable. We got a great nights rest before continuing on our drive. As most hotels these days, it offered body wash, shampoo and conditioner on the wall. The shower was nice and hot. We had a quick breakfast before heading out. They offered what I'd considered a normal hotel breakfast, with the option to make your own waffles. Coffee location took a minute to find as it was just outside the entrance to the breakfast room. I assume so those just wanting coffee didn't have to walk all the way into the breakfast area. I would definitely stay here again.
