La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Phoenix Mesa West

Booked this hotel for a quick overnight stay while traveling from the Los Angeles area. The online photos looked great and reviews were positive, which makes the actual experience even more disappointing. I completed pre arrival check in the day before, including adding my credit card and vehicle information for parking. When we arrived, no one was at the front desk and there was no signage indicating when someone would return. After waiting, a gentleman finally appeared. He was wearing a track suit rather than a uniform, and the computer screen at the desk was so large it completely blocked him from view. He did not speak at all, simply handed me the room keys and then gave me a form requiring me to re-enter my vehicle information, which I had already completed online. When I asked why,

First, when we arrived to check in there was a long line and only one person working who was clearly frazzled and overwhelmed. ||The lobby area is also the area where breakfast is served and when we arrived at 9:30 pm the trash cans were over flowing, like the garbage hadn't been taken out all day. The furniture was really worn. I'm talking thread bare chairs, beat up tables, etc. The counters and tables were dirty and covered with crumbs. ||Once we got our keys and went up to our room, we inserted the key and it turned green but the door wouldn't open. We tried several times. Back to the front desk to wait in a long line again, to be told the handle needed to be pulled up instead of pushed down. Would have been helpful to know that before we went up. ||Over our stay we had to have our key

Positive: The bed was comfortable and it was nice having a chair that reclined, as well as 2 additional chairs to use. Negative: Housekeeping was not consistent. We went 2 days without service, and when we asked at the front desk, we were told for week long stays, they come every 2 days. No clean room on day 2 so we had to ask for trash taken and for more towels and toilet paper.

We only stayed for one night, but I was honestly surprised by how great this hotel was, especially for about $70 a night. This is easily the best hotel we’ve stayed in within this price range. The room was big and had two queen beds that were incredibly comfortable. The sheets were wide, the pillows were soft, and the whole bed setup made for such a cozy night’s sleep that I almost slept through breakfast. And speaking of breakfast — it was amazing! They had eggs, sausage, different kinds of bread, cream cheese, apples, jello, several types of cereal, juice, coffee, tea, and of course the make-your-own waffles. So much variety for a budget hotel. The lady at the reception was very friendly and welcoming. Parking was super easy — the lot is big, so finding a spot isn’t a problem at all.

Loved stay, clean and the staff was very helpful. Only issue was the elevator took soooo long to go up and down. Lol but not a big deal. I feel if thats the only issue then they did great. We appreciate the stay!!
