We loved our stay here. We parked our van in their grassy tent sites. It was so great to camp on grass RIGHT next to a lil canal...felt like the Bayou! Relatively quiet (off season), a lil road noise during day but nbd. Loved hearing owners rooster. Walked to dive bar across street, also on water. Dudes were super friendly & it was cheap (no food). The lady I dealt with to chk in was very nice!
This is a family owned campground and has been here for several generations. It's first come, first serve as there are no reservations, and the camp fees are reasonable. Me and my husband arrived late so the office was closed, but we easily found a site and set up and registered the next morning. The owners are very nice. The tent sites are right on the water and you can fish to your hearts content. It's a wonderful place for sunsets and photos, and located right down the road from the Wright Brothers Memorial. Stores are close by in either direction for food or camping needs. They only allow contained campfires. All in all, we had a very relaxing & peaceful weekend and met some very nice people while we were there. It's definitely on our list to go back again.
The campground was so accomodating, and the service was amazing. They were so helpful with our situation and last minute needs 🫶 10/10 recommend
What a cool little spot. Very accommodating for bikers. Clean bathroom. Nice views of the water. Not a lot of bugs. I enjoyed my stay here and I will probably return again next year for bike week. Fairly priced also. My only petty gripe is no campfires but, rules is rules.
I stayed here as I was unable to obtain a tenting spot elsewhere. While the importance of that is not lost on me, I strongly advise you not stay there unless you have absolutely no choice due to the abhorrent condition of the bathrooms. Dead bugs and flies all over the ceiling and the walls, cobwebs with bugs on them hanging from the ceiling. Toilets clearly are never cleaned as evidenced by the same poop stuck on the toilets. I took one shower there out of desperation with shower shoes. The water is dispensed with a chain that you pull on and shuts off when you let go. No control over hot or cold water. I have traveled widely and have never seen such a filthy set up. Why they haven't been inspected and fined by NC is beyond me.
