Jekyll Ocean Club

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. Nothing was bad, but there are so many instances where I feel the Jekyll Ocean Club missed the mark. The checkin time was 6PM which was odd, there was spotty wireless in the room which had me working from the concierge desk in the lobby, the bike rentals felt over priced and really anyone should just go to the bike rental place next door for 50% off and better selection and maintained bikes. While working from the lobby I overheard a couple responses from the front desk about extra charges or what is not included in packages and that led to some charged exchanges. The biggest thing was the lack of coffee in the morning except through the restaurant which is slow. They have a restaurant that is severely understaffed which led to a 2.5 hr dinner

Staff were excellent! The hotel does need updating and we would have thought there would be a microwave in the room (our fault for not checking). Great location. Everything was clean except we realized when we left that under the beds, fridge, etc was very dirty! We usually use a flashlight to check under everything to be sure we didn’t drop any valuables. We did have issues with the heat/air unit. We like the room pretty chilly. I honestly would not stay here again for the price though.

Disappointing. Windows in our room are cloudy to the point you can’t enjoy the view. TVs didn’t work, safe didn’t work, and when we used the in-room coffee maker, it blew a breaker and the lights went out. I’m sure housekeeping and maintenance staff are doing their best, but seem dramatically understaffed and under-resourced. The Ocean Club does not have a spa, like they claim. It has a small, beachfront event space that they let a mobile spa service use. Ocean Club management frequently bump the spa appointments for other event requests (this happened to all of our spa bookings). The actual spa is located across the island at a sister hotel. We stayed at the Jekyll Ocean Club on Jekyll Island from Thursday Nov. 27 - Saturday, November 29, 2025. There were some very good things about our stay and many that made us decide this is not a place we would visit again.||||We were visiting Jekyll Island for two reasons and chose the hotel based on those reasons. First, it was Thanksgiving and we made Thanksgiving dinner reservations at the Jekyll Island Club. Second, it was our anniversary celebration.||||My wife found the reservation process cumbersome and the people she spoke with, mostly uninformed. The person she spoke with to make the reservation knew very little about Thanksgiving dinner offerings or the process at either of the resort's restaurants. After night one I expressed my dissatisfaction with the bed. The mattress was worn out and my wife and I rolled to the center. I requested a new mattress. After night two, with no improvement, I realized my request was not accommodated. It was like sleeping on a hill. I expressed my concerns at checkout and was informed I would receive a $50 credit. Now that is insulting. You rent a room at a high end hotel.....to get a good night of sleep. This was a failure.
