Islander Beach Resort

We have been coming every year for 48 years. I love the Islander and always will but the rooms are in desperate need of renovation. The beds and sofas are very uncomfortable. We will continue to come as it feels like our second home. We would love to see our favorite place updated to meet the times.

The staff is really nice, kind, helpful. This "resort" is right on the beach. The rooms are super old, the a/c sounded like a plane landing in our room. And wind coming in though the windows sounded like a train at night. Thought we might have to leave, but they did seal the windows with some metal tape, which helped a lot, and we could sleep ( if we turned off the a/c at night) While the place was pretty clean, there was a mold/mildew/bleach smell that was pretty strong (can't use windows to air out either- and we didn't have a balcony) kitchen was very small, old. The pool was sparkling clean, as were the hot tubs. Common areas were very nice.. activities were fun. The people were so nice, and the beach was great! If not for that, we would have left.

Positive: Room was ready and we had a quick check in. Negative: The room was smaller than expected, bathroom wasn?t clean well and the shower curtain kept sliding in the middle (both ends). Couch was a bit hard.

As with all of these older beachfront resorts, updating and maintenance is key. They are doing OK at the Islander. It is clean, and the grounds are in good shape (I'm sure it's not easy after all these years). Our unit was spacious and clean, and everything was functioning properly, if not in mint condition. If the point requirements and fees stay reasonable, we'll look to stay here again.

This is a nice resort but the rooms and building are dated. Pool area is beautiful and they have some nice activities for all. Small beds, I'm used to a king and I believe all queen. Staff very nice, location good with a car.
