I thoroughly enjoyed this stay. I had a “deluxe room” on the 11th floor. It was spacious, had a tall ceiling, and looked out over a beautiful mountain view and a canal and golf course. It was a very clean room with fresh paint. Kitchen facilities were good and we used them a lot (there is a Target just a few minutes away where you can get fresh ingredients). I checked many hotels before deciding on the Ilima Hotel—it was often hard to tell the actual price of other Honolulu hotels because of parking and resort fees that can easily tack on $500. At the Ilima Hotel the parking is free (44 spaces total—there is some chance you’ll have to park in a garage if you miss out, but I personally had no issue). The front desk and staff were all friendly. If there is a nit, the bathroom was a somewhat s
Ok so normally 5 stars would be for luxury and this isn't luxury. But this place is a steal! Very large rooms, immaculately clean, great location and welcoming staff. I've stayed here twice, both week-long stays. Somehow I didn't manage to make it to the little pool and sauna until I was checking out last month. The pool is warm like bath water and the sauna looked really nice! Given the small price difference, get the higher floor especially if noise bothers you. White Sands next door is quite loud on the weekends. The ancient but serviceable AC is perfect white noise. Compared to the rest of Waikiki the area is pretty quiet. Easy to walk to wherever you want.
Positive: Great location and price. Warm, helpful staff. Large, comfortable room. Good beds. Negative: The noise at night could get loud with music and people on their balconies.
We stayed at Ilima Hotel for 7 nights as a family with kids. While the hotel itself is clean and functional, the nighttime noise and air quality issues made the stay very difficult.||Our room was facing the White Sands Hotel, which runs a night club/disco. Loud music started every night around 8:30 PM and often continued until 2:00 AM. We were on the 5th floor, and the sound carried clearly into the room because the windows are not soundproof. Our kids struggled to sleep, and on some nights people outside were screaming or shouting, likely intoxicated.||Another serious concern was weed smoke. People nearby were openly smoking, and the AC system pulled the smell into our room, making it uncomfortable to breathe and unsafe for small children. This happened multiple times during our stay.||We
No frills family run hotel in the heart of Waikiki. Everything you need and nothing that you don't. Kitchenettes! Free parking! Just be certain to rent a medium (or smaller) car -- and plan your day accordingly 😉 They don't always have parking when the property is fully booked.
