Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach

My family chose this hotel because it was the most wheelchair accessible option we could find in Waikiki. The accessible room is big, with ample space in the bathroom, grab bars in the shower and by the toilet, and a folded shower seat. The only issues in the room is that the bathroom sink is a little high for someone in a wheelchair and opening the door to get out of the room would be hard without help. We didn't use the pool or pool lift, mostly because the angle of the buildings meant the pool itself never got any direct sunlight (although the deck did, depending on the time). The beds are comfortable, although definitely on the softer side. The breakfast buffet was okay, but not great. It usually had some type of egg (scrambled, breakfast sandwich), bread & bagels, yogurt & granola, j

Positive: comfortable bed, clean sheets and clean bath towels, AC worked great but did not work so well in our son's room. The Valet guys were super friendly and helpful and we felt truly welcomed by them Negative: The birds are so aggressive where you eat breakfast, which is on the roof out in the open, they would even try to steal your food while we were eating at the table.

Great family of 5 experience at Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach, the hotel is located about 1 block from Waikiki Beach, and there are lots of ABC Stores and other stores within walking distance. Overall we were very happy with the hotel, it was clean and we received two bottles of water each day with our loyalty program. We also were able to get beach toys and beach chairs from the lobby. The buffet breakfast was very good, enough variety for everyone, each day the food was different and my kids enjoyed it. It was rainy and very windy two days and I wish the outdoor seating area had some type of cover (the umbrellas were being blown away and so were the chairs). I booked this hotel through Expedia, and honestly, I feel that neither the photos nor the reviews can be fully trusted. The room I was given was very different from what was shown in the pictures. When I spoke to the front desk and explained that I had booked the hotel based on those photos, I was told I would need to pay an additional $280+ to upgrade to a room similar to what was advertised. The pool is also much smaller than it appears in the photos. While I understand that the hotel is close to the beach and guests may not rely heavily on the pool, the images are clearly exaggerated and make it look much larger than it actually is. Location was great but the room was musty and hot. It lacks ventilation and the balcony door is locked and not able to be opened. We had to request a fan to keep the room in a more tolerable temperature and less humid condition. We did bring this temperature issue up with the front desk, and they did sent their engineer to check out the AC; however, despite changing some settings on the AC panel, the AC in room 812 was not working effectively. I would recommend checking out other independent hotels and I wouldn’t stay here again.
