Hyatt Centric Rittenhouse Square Philadelphia

Location was perfect for our needs. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to visit. The room was clean and quiet and was tidied every day. During our 5 day stay we had breakfast at the hotel just once. Limited menu offerings and the buffet didn’t appear to be a good value if you are paying cash. There are lots of places close by to get a better breakfast. One note concerning the room…the bed frame sticks out a few inches beyond the mattress and we both ended up with bruises on our shins from the corners. We covered the corners with towels and that helped. We would stay there again.

I guess I’ll make a compliment sandwich here. Positive:The front desk staff was pleasant with every interaction. Negatives: called ahead of time to confirm that a standard pick up truck would fit in their garage and were assured that it would. Arrived around 11pm and was told there was only one spot for a large vehicle but that a van had it reserved starting on day 2 of our 4 night stay. So now we are driving around at 11pm looking for parking despite being told we would be able to park there. The beds were not comfortable and somehow the pillows were even worse. The toilet is in what feels like a closet. The sink and shower are on the opposite side of the room with no door to the rest of the room which is a little odd. This was my second time staying at the Hyatt Centric Center City, both times for work. I enjoyed my room this time much more than I did the first time. I requested a corner room hoping for a nice view, and what I got was a beautiful view (especially at night), in addition to a spacious, comfortable room. The customer service is amazing, at the front desk and with housekeeping. Patrick, in particular, was not only professional and friendly, but worked with me on the day of my departure and gave me an extended time for check out to accommodate my later flight. The good people who cleaned my room - Sonya and Mayelin - were patient, warm, and efficient. I only wish I had thought ahead and brought cash with me to give both of them substantial tips. Positive: Clean, great bed, crisp sheets. Quality shower/bath/sink/fixtures. Negative: Other parking options nearby are safe, close, and a bit cheaper than the valet/hotel garage...

The room was excellent; housekeeping was excellent; service at the Patchwork restaurant was excellent. The overall review rating reflects the valet parking service. It was very inconsistent - sometimes it was very quick and efficient, and other times there was either a 25 minute wait beyond the projected time or you would be stuck out in the road waiting for your car to be received (and one time they even brought us out the incorrect car). Wish there was a self-park option!
