Hugh White State Park Campground

Great nature trails, fishing spots galore, peaceful, great family area for camping, swimming, or fishing

Absolutely the worst camping experience on this lake I’ve had especially for the cost which is outrageous. The bathrooms are absolutely nasty. The campsites are small and 2 campsites have to share the same power outlet that only has 2 plugs. Won’t make this camping area mistake again.

The park is run down. The campsites did not have fire rings to make a fire. The campsites are very close together. There was a small pond behind our campsite full of frogs whole were very loud. But the were not as loud as the people near us having a truck rally all night. The park was not patrolled and the check in station was closed. There were no maps of the park to be had. The showers were okay but the bathrooms were nasty.

Just great place to camp..... The State Park Managers have decided HWSP does not need "Camp Hosts". The office ladies (2) from the cabin side of the park will have to clean all three Shower/rest rooms at the Spillway camp ground also. I can't wait until they start getting spider bites like I have. If you do camp here after 16 August, BRING YOUR own sanitizer to sanitize the bathrooms. I have been buying a gallon a week as the park doesn't supply it. We did have a possible covid here last week... His family was positive so he came here to seclude himself.

Older campground but looks like they received some grant money and starting to fix things up. Tight spaces and no one cleans up the trash that we saw.... Too bad Mississippi still thinks it's ok to throw trash around. Could be better.
