HTR Durango Campground

The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The park was quiet and really pretty sitting in the bottom of a canyon. Getting to the park from the highway was interesting, 3.5 miles of windy narrow road. Not a problem, just unexpected and kind of exciting. The park is not a resort, so expect small rv’s, tents, and groups in cabins. I am not saying we won’t stay there again, but probably not. It was close enough to Durango for us and on the highway we were leaving on. We spent 3 nights there, so we did experience the park.

This family friendly campground is quiet and well maintained. The pool, small dog park and playground are located away from the campsites ensuring calm for everyone.|There are common areas featuring gas fired bonfire pits and bocce ball at the end of the campgrounds so folks can gather without disturbing others.|The restrooms and showers were clean and could only be accessed via code to ensure safety.|The sites are a little tight but feature trees and shade. We had enough room to put up 2 tents. As we drove through town and saw other campgrounds, I thought we had the superior choice, only a 10 minute drive from town but with a woods like atmosphere.

HTR Durango was an incredible experience. We originally booked two nights and then extended one night because we loved our experience so much. The location is outstanding, under 15 minutes and you're in downtown Durango. Great hikes all close by. We had an amazing full hookups RV spot on the creek, which is clean and crystal clear and very refreshing. We felt we had sufficient privacy (this is a campground, expect to see and hear other people) but the privacy surpassed our expectations. Hookups worked and the entire facility and property is so well-run. Staff is always around offering assistance just checking in to ensure everything is going well. We didn't want to leave to go home. We will be back! Best campground experience we've ever had!

Very friendly staff, clean campground. My only disappointment was the seasonal creek was dry . I know they have no control over that other then maybe stating that on website. I.paid more for creekside site not knowing it was dried up. Other then that very nice experience!

We stayed for a week at HTR Campground in Durango. The hospitality was excellent — staff were friendly and constantly out maintaining the grounds. However, the sites were pretty tight, and the sewer and water hookups were awkwardly placed. My neighbor’s sewer connection was just about 10 feet from my front door, and mine was even closer to the next site. While this isn't the campground's fault, there was a lot of marijuana use, several loud dogs, and noisy campers throughout the week, which made it hard to relax. During our stay, there were two bear sightings on the campground property — something to keep in mind. Overall, it’s a well-run place with solid amenities, but the atmosphere just wasn’t a great fit for me.
