Howard Johnson by Wyndham Winter Haven FL

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but after my wife booked it through Expedia, I decided to look at the reviews. The 3 star ratings are accurate. The hallway smells like weed and cigarette smoke. We had a pet friendly room so I'm guessing that's why we had tile floors. The room was clean. The bathroom sink looked like it had permanent stains and the lock to the sliding glass door didn't lock. This is a problem being on the first floor. It did however have an aluminum bar to secure the door. However the bar was shortened to the point where the sliding glass door could be opened just enough to leave a small gap between the door and lock catch. The sliding glass door exit leads right out to the parking space where we parked our vehicle. Security is somewhat compromised. The hotel offers a 10

Positive: Spacious room, good breakfast Negative: After night lobby is closed, someone will come to door and through the hole ask for your credit card and license. Verify info and bring papers to sign and give keys.

First of all, the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms itself is another story. I was told that all rooms have connecting doors to each other rooms. What?!!yes there are locks that you can secure it but I have never encountered this staying at a hotel. A hostel yes but not a hotel. The faucet from the shower was pulled out from its place. The mini refrigerator was not working despite several attempts. I did mentioned it to staff and they offered if I wanted it handled before or after breakfast. Lastly, breakfast wasn’t appealing. Not enough options for protein only yogurt. Perhaps bagels with cream cheese or eggs would be an option. This place has potential because of the staff. I hope some of these ideas are taken to account to be able to see this place soar.

We flew into Orlando to find the hotel we booked never received our reservation. 11pm at night, this was the only room within an hour drive of the airport that wasn’t $2,000. She told us it was a smoking room. We didn’t mind, so we thought, we we desperate. Well the room the room hasn’t been updated since the 70s. The toilet was. It clean and the rest of the bathroom was filthy. The entire room smelled like an ashtray that’s never been emptied. The bedding felt “waxy”, my wife’s word for it. We left. I wouldn’t let my dogs stay sleep here.

Rooms were clean. Breakfast was pretty sad. Pancake machine was out of batter. Nothing else was hot. Milk container was empty as well so no cereal. Couldn't find a worker so we just went out to eat.
