Customer Reviews
This is a very basic hotel. Nothing fancy, but it is clean. The parking lot is very tight. We stayed for 3 nights. There isn't daily housekeeping unless asked for. The breakfast is extremely basic, coffee, juice, muffin, and yogurt. The front desk was friendly. We had no other staff interaction. I would recommend this place if you are on a budget and want to be close to the beach.
Positive: Bed was very comfortable, and the location was excellent. Negative: It’s just an older hotel… So I expected everything to be a little aged
Great experience here! Comfortable, well lit and spacious room. Not high-end but great for the location and the price! The location/neighborhood are the highlights being so close to the beach with a partial view of the ocean from my window. Also the front desk service was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely book again.
Whoever Howard Johnson is, he should be ashamed that his name is on a hotel like this. It's cheap - I'll give it that. I shouldn't have expected much. What I didn't expect was for the entire place to be filthy and falling apart. The bathroom floor had not been cleaned behind the door and clearly this was a consistent issue, judging by the patina of dust. There were spots of mildew in the corners. The sheets and bedspreads were stained. Speaking of sheets and bedspreads, the top sheet was, for some unknown reason, on top of the blanket - meaning that in order to sleep with just a sheet, you have to completely take the bedding apart and re-order it. The bathroom smelled like Marijuana, which isn't necessarily the fault of the management, but they don't seem to enforce their no-smoking policy
We checked into this hotel on October 25/26, 2025. The worst experiences we ever have. This was our 1st stop to check Virginia beach before driving going to outer bank, emerald isle, NC, myrtle beach up to Florida beaches. This was the worst hotel we stayed at. Thank God it was only 1 night. The picture on the internet was opposite from reality. The description sounds perfect for you to stay, but when you get there that is not what you expect. The moment you open your car in their parking lot, you can smell marijuana all over that place. Their receptionist was in a separate building from the building you stay in. So you have to park your car and walk to the small building which is located at the entrance to the parking lot. They gave us keys for the second floor room, but the door was def
