Hotel Macomber

What a lovely experience it was to stay here! It’s adults only, laid back, clean, and cozy with beautiful antique charm, and unique elegance. It’s perfect for people who like to mind their own business, and enjoy an antique feel in a gorgeous historic hotel. Union Park dining room is a fabulous restaurant, definitely make use of the discount token provided by the hotel! The bagel time place is so-so, but it doesn’t matter because everything is in walking distance of here! It’s smack dab in the middle of everything you’d want to explore in Cape May, and right across the beach. We really enjoyed the ocean view room, and our stay was brilliant. Staff was friendly when needed, but definitely not overly cheery or bothersome. Also, yes, it’s *definitely* haunted!

We stayed for 3D2N at Hotel Macomber during mid August for a girls summer trip. The hotel’s location is perfect- near the beach, restos, and shopping places. The young lady (Zeisan) at the hotel’s front desk was friendly and accommodating. It is a historic hotel so no elevators. We were happy to be assigned at the first floor room so less walking up flight of stairs. I enjoyed the quirks of the old hotel. The place was dated but I liked the rustic look of it. Overall the experience was pleasant and stress free. ||Pro : Budget friendly option compared to the rest of Cape May’s expensive resort during peak summer season. Positive: The calm atmosphere and the friendliness of its staff. Negative: Offering a breakfast would have been nice, but there were enough alternatives near the hotel. An elevator would certainly make it more accessible to elderly or disabled people, but preserving the historic character is very important too.

We’ve stayed here before so knew somewhat to expect. There is no elevator and we were on the 3rd floor which meant dragging luggage up six staircases. The room is small but doable. Very clean. Furnishings are nice and enough outlets for electronics. The bathroom has a very tiny vanity with little space for one persons things let alone 2. The water in sink is a trickle and had to run it and shower for 10 min to get hot water. Staff are friendly. The building has character. I think they could do more on the bathroom.

The hotel is very nice, staff is great. Room is comfy (bed and sheets are nice) and the hotel is in a perfect location near the beach and near the restaurants (Washington street). The only problem was that the bath towels had a weird smell and the A/C (we were on the 3rd floor), was hardly working. we could not decrease the temperature and it was rather warm in the room. We received a note saying that the A/C could not be lowered past a certain number but the temperature was not even close to that number. Overall though it was a great hotel and i would stay here again!
