Hotel Indigo Detroit Downtown by IHG

We were in town for the Detroit Free Press marathon weekend and this was one of the partner hotels. Because of its proximity to all-things race related, we chose to stay here.||The lobby was seemingly fresh and modern (albeit hot when we were there-perhaps the AC was broken) and the clerks were friendly. The rooms seem to have been somewhat modernized and were sufficient.||But a closer, thoughtful look tells you that this hotel is tired. The hallway carpets are a bit dirty and worn (at least on the two floors I saw). The attempt at drywall repair on the bathroom ceiling and wall (in my room) indicates some mechanical/plumbing issues (it happens). When the time I stayed there are road construction around the area. Not easy to walk around but not to bad. Hotel is clean and opposite the street there is Starbucks easy to get caffeine if you need it everyday.

Overall a good hotel in a great downtown location. The room was clean, comfortable, and well kept, and the whole place has a modern, stylish feel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made check-in and the stay smooth and easy. The only downside is the price; for what you pay, it doesn’t fully feel worth the cost compared to some other nearby options. Still, if you catch a decent rate, it’s a solid and pleasant place to stay.

If you looking for modern, chic type hotel, at a reasonable price, rather than luxury, you'll probably like this hotel. For about the past 4 years, this is our go to hotel whenever my husband and I prefer to do an overnight stay Downtown Detroit after a night of hanging out, rather than going home. It's kinda in a cental location Downtown, so there are a to a number of walkable places to go in the area and it's not far from Woodward. The staff is always friendly and hospitable. The overall hotel smells good and is clean. We usually end up with a King Suite, no complaints about the size or view from of the room for two ppl.
