Hoover Dam Lodge and Casino

Room was roomy & the view of Lake Mead was amazing, but housekeeping does not come even with the door sign out. You are supposed to be told at check-in (we were not) to call down if you need fresh towels or more shampoo. We stayed 7 nights, housekeeping came the first two days (so why would we think they wouldn’t come). We do not need housekeeping everyday, but they did not come again the rest of our stay, not even to empty the garbages. When I asked at check out their answer was I should’ve called down. Nice to have a fridge, but there is no coffee maker. (Coffee was free with the coupon they gave you to take to the gift shop for coffee). We stayed 1 night on our way from Boise, Idaho to Phoenix, Arizona and then another night on our way back home. We had such a great experience. The Hotel is very reasonably priced so you feel like you can upgrade without breaking the bank. The Room was older, but clean and spacious. When we arrived for the first visit we were super early, but the ladies at the front desk were very nice and let us check in. We were road weary so to be able to get our room and take a shower was priceless. The Casino is so clean and has different themed rooms with food and music in each room to fit that theme. The food is premade bar food so nothing fancy but very reasonably priced. The staff is all so friendly and helpful. Last but not least the view from the hotel of Lake Mead is so beautiful. This was a good basic room with everything you need for a comfortable stay. I think if the corporation that owns this Lodge put some money in to decorate and upgrade rooms and promote it. It could be a lot more successful. Dining options were not good. The coffee shop was actually the gift shop with some tables to eat at. Two other dining options were in small casinos so you could not take your children in if you had them with you. All three were counter service and the food was mediocre at best. The staff was very good and the view from the room is worth a visit by itself. We appreciated having a fridge and a pretty decent microwave in the room. All in all we had a pretty comfortable stay.

Ok first off I would like to state that this is a bit of nostalgia for my husband and I as we used to frequent frequently when lodge was called the Hacienda, once or twice a year. Haven’t been in over 10+ years since it changed names. Location used to be ideal as we would come in after going through the dam. Now with the bridge and not being familiar with the exit and it being later at night we missed the turn and had to take a 22 minute loop around to be able to get back to the lodge. Mildly annoying, no one’s fault but our own. Made us wonder how much business they are losing out on because of it, though. I digress. We were staying for a total of three nights.
