Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbus/Airport

If you need a place to stay this isn’t the place to go. From check-in to check-out the experience was horrible. The check-in clerk made a number of inappropriate remarks regarding the property’s safety and the rooms. This was an unplanned trip due to a family emergency. After arriving to the room which was overpowered with air freshener we were asked to change rooms because the sink was stopped up and the handles were broken. The clerk met us on the second floor, advised us that the new room had a strong aroma (complaints from the last visitors) and told us it should not bother us because it did not bother him. This is an under-maintained and mismanaged hotel and unfortunately it is not worth staying in it. As a Diamond member in Hilton, I have stayed in my fair share of Homewood Suites. They are typically mediocre and serviceable, but this one does not even meet that standard. If I don’t give them one star, it is because the front-desk staff was stellar in working within conditions that are not appropriate. The room was dirty. I arrived near midnight and unfortunately could not see what came on daylight, including a nondescript pink stain in both the carpet and the bed sheets, a dirty bathroom and fridge and generally very poor upkeep. When I raised this with the front desk, she told me, clearly mortified, that she was the only person working in the hotel that day and that housekeeping was overs

Positive: The decor of the lobby and cleanliness. Quiet Negative: Lots of dust throughout the fixtures and cobwebs on window sills. Door would stick and hard to open. Bathroom light was dimmed. Mild in bathtub

The front desk attendant was amazing. Probably the reason I would stay again. Swimming pool was dated and need a good cleaning but he was nice enough to let us swim after hours. Good stay!

Our room clearly smelled of weed. (We were on an non smoking floor). The floors are not clean in both our hotel rooms and the dining area downstairs. Our initial room had a broken mirror/ closet door and toilet started to overflow upon first flush. The area around the tub was peeling and the faucet was loose. Front desk was marginally helpful. Put us in a new room right across from our old room. New room still not clean, dirt and dust all over the floor, stains on counters and cabinets. Silver lining I don't think will be murdered. Super disappointed after being on the road for 10 hours. Will not be staying again.
