Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kingsport-Meadowview I-26, an IHG Hotel

Positive: The friendly staff Negative: The water bubbles in the paint on the ceiling of the bathroom and the fact that the room wasn't very clean. They also put us in a room with two queen beds when we had reserved a room with two king size beds.

When I walked in the hotel smelled very clean and looked immaculate. Staff that I had interacted with absolutely felt like they wanted to be there and were happy to see you and talk. Check in is a breeze and front desk folks are fantastic! The room was really nice and comfortable. The bed was nice to sleep in and the pillows didn’t feel like you needed multiples to double up to lay under your head. Breakfast was pretty good and plentiful.

I truly value the IHG program, and that’s why I chose this property for my 7-night stay. I’m now on day 5, and here are my observations so far: • Beds: The first room’s bed was extremely lumpy, with springs poking through, sagging, and shifting—very uncomfortable. The front desk addressed it immediately, and the upgraded room’s bed is better, though still not fully up to the usual Holiday Inn standards. • Housekeeping: This has been the biggest concern. My room has only been cleaned once so far, and the quality was not great when it was done. Finally learned that because a sweater was left on the bed it doesn't get made. 5 days & had to make my own bed and never received clean sheets. This has never happened at any other IHG property. Quite disappointing. • Breakfast: Complimentary

The front desk staff were friendly & check in was easy. The room was far less than standard IHG. The mattress was extremely hard & worn, there was alot of hair in the shower, & the bathroom was pretty ghetto with the ceiling having large damaged areas needing to be replaced. The wallpaper above the shower head was peeling & someone decided to put push pins in it to hold it up. For some reason the hvac system was very loud the entire time when it was on. Breakfast was mediocre with no meat options, but it was free. We would not choose this hotel when traveling through the area again.

We book a stay here, to visit a friend in the area. We booked a handicap accessible room, which we received. Unfortunately there was an issue with the shower, we were moved to another room by the staff on duty, who couldn't have been more apologetic, he got us our new room keys, apologized again for the maintenance issue, and told us that he would be sure to mention it to the weekend manager, so the he could compensate us for the inconvenience incurred. Unfortunately the weekend manager didn't attend the same school for hospitality that his coworkers had. He was rude and unprofessional. The night before we felt as if the staff went above and beyond to make the best out of the situation. The next morning we decided if ever we were in the Kingsport area again we'd find other accommodations.
