Holiday Inn Express & Suites Galveston West-Seawall, an IHG Hotel

Positive: "" Negative: Bathroom looked like a 6year old tried to trim and caulk it. No grout in tile on floor. Waited about 10 minutes for girl to get off phone to check me in with no concern nor any gratitude for my business. Shower had no water pressure.

We enjoyed our stay here during Mardi Gras - Galveston. Service was great, the room was large with all working amenities, and I slept great in that bed. So much so that I never got up early enough to try the free breakfast. Others in my group said it was good, and included crispy bacon! Parking can be a little tight with a larger vehicle in the front spots or basement garage. Being on Seawall Bkvd, it's close to most everything without a significant traffic hassle. I really enjoyed the outdoor veranda that gave us a view of the beach even at the back of the hotel.

This hotel is in desperate need of a major renovation. I stayed for one night on the second floor, and the experience was far below expectations. The photos on their website are misleading and do not reflect the actual condition of the property.|While the room itself was clean, the bathroom was not. The ceiling was covered in mold due to a long-broken exhaust fan, and the light fixture next to it was rusted from heavy moisture. The water pressure was practically nonexistent, making showers disappointing. Additionally, one of the bathroom floor tiles was loose and shifted underfoot.|Other issues included a room door with a large gap at the bottom, a balcony door that didn’t close properly and appeared to have a makeshift repair, and a TV that displayed only a “No Signal” message. I rounded up to 4 stars. The hotel location is good and right on the beach with good views and a balcony depending on room location. Front desk folks have always been friendly and very helpful. We have stayed here 4 or 5 times prior to a cruise. Breakfast is a typical IHG complimentary breakfast. We eat it and find something to satisfy us. Hotel and rooms are dated and need attention and remodeling. Our next time here for a cruise we will stay in League City and drive in. The 30 minute drive is not bad and the money saved and hotels are better quality, unless you want to spend $350 a night on the island.

We stayed 12/11 - 12/13 celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. The booking was for a "One Bedroom King Suite" and we were originally assigned a double queen room. Went to the desk, desk assigned a "King Suite" which was the same as the double queen, only with a king bed instead. This may have been a Southwest Hotels issue if the listing was wrong, but when contacted they said they had to confer with the property to get any credit back. If we had known this was what we would be booking, we would have booked elsewhere. The hallways\elevators smelled of Pinesol\Virtuoso cleaner (could be worse I know) and the wifi was spotty at best.
