Holiday Inn Express & Suites Carlsbad Beach by IHG

The hotel and surrounding area were very beautiful, and the room was clean and well maintained. My only issue was having to pay for parking and then receiving a separate bill after the stay. After already paying for the hotel, I would expect parking to be included, so this felt like an unnecessary extra charge and a way to generate additional revenue. That was disappointing. Overall, however, it is a nice place to stay.

I lived not too far from this hotel for 20 years and since I am visiting San Diego, I decided to stay here since it's close to the beach. Even though I stay at many Holiday Inn Express, this is definitely one of the least desirable. It's an older hotel and the room I stayed in had vinyl cushioned sofa. Bathroom was just older. But with that said, if you want a walkable access to the beach and be in Carlsbad, it is a good option for the price. It is very inexpensive. So don't expect much.

Overall we had a great experience. We arrived a day early and they were able to accommodate us and give us a room. However, the room we were given hadn’t been cleaned yet so we had to go to a different one. Not too big of a deal. This was on a Sunday. The weekday staff was so friendly and helpful. Housekeeping did a phenomenal job cleaning up and even rearranged my kids’ stuffed animals in cute ways on the bed, the kids thought that was fun. However, come the next weekend it seems the weekend staff was lazy. They didn’t leave us any towels. They changed the trash and made the bed and that was it. We had some large trash items that didn’t fit in the small trash cans so we set them next to the trash. The weekday staff was great about taking care of those things for us but the weekend staff j

Disappointing, dirty, overpriced for what we paid. The mattresses are uncomfortable and need to be replaced. Mystery stain on the floor next to the bed. The lobby is nice and that is about it. The rest of hotel needs a deep clean and update. We paid extra for a suite since we had the whole family in town for a soccer camp and it was a waste of money. Charging for parking is ridiculous.

Overall, was not impressed with this place. The TV would not work and the response for assistance was horrid. Having you call over and over. ||I asked Later for another room because of my dissatisfaction, hoping the other room would liven up the stay, yet the same thing TV wouldn’t work, drawers left opened and non sliding curtains. ||The staff were even worse containing the don’t give a ____ appearance verses concern. Only my walks to Ralph’s made my day near that vicinity and the workers there were nicer. ||I will never deal with Holiday Inn in Carlsbad again overpriced , sour workers and overrated.
