Holiday Inn Express & Suites Austin South-Buda by IHG

Positive: The location and breakfast Negative: I booked two family suites. The lights in the 2nd family suite did not work, so, I was down graded to a 2 queen bed hotel but still charged for a family suite.

I have stayed in many Holiday Inn Express hotels over the years. This one would be down towards the bottom of my list in general. Here's why I put it at the very bottom now:|Our room had zero carpet and it was all vinyl flooring. Not a huge deal in itself, except the cleaning method they use was the worst. The moment we stepped in the room , it was just an overpowering smell of cleaners and chemical. There was a residue on the floor as well. We immediately went downstairs in our course of another room. The other room was on a different floor even but it was the same exact thing. The floor was gross, there was no way I wanted my feet or even socks on it. We bought a mop at Walmart and cleaned it with just fresh water. The residue coming up off the floor was gross. After this the odor was mu

This is your typical Holiday Inn Express. HOWEVER, two things make this an unbearable place to stay. First, all the rooms have vinyl floors throughout. These are not cozy, comfortable rooms. It's more like staying in a giant hospital room. The vinyl floors are the cause for my second (and biggest) complaint: the smell. The entirety of all rooms have to be mopped, leaving the most disgusting scent of old cleaning chemicals. It's sweet but not in a good way and overpowering. Think "newly cleaned gas station bathroom." I am so nauseated that I have to sit in the lobby instead of our room. My husband says he won't walk in the room without shoes. The clerk was kind enough to let us change rooms, but the second room is just as bad. It's the entire hotel. If you are sensitive to smells, do not

ZERO stars is more appropriate!! The room was filthy with SO MANY hairs on the bathroom floors, room floors were very dirty, and then the bed.. oh the dirt and hairs in the bed! The sheets were NOT even swapped between guests. So tired I stayed anyway, I asked to switch to another room the next morning. The floors were cleaner, but I pulled back the bedsheets to find hairs and dirt!! So gross! I checked out and asked for a refund for the second night!! I paid $186 for this (she photos)!!

I don't know why this hotel gets a bad rap. I understand people are speaking to they own, very personalized, experience. I'll speak to mine. It was an amazing stay, check in was smooth and easy, there was plenty of parking, the property was in amazing condition, and the room was super clean and spacious. I didn't have low, nor high, expectations and this far exceeded and was a really good stay from a service and quality standpoint. I would question that there are any better hotels in Buda, top to bottom, moreso than this property.
