Holiday Inn Express & Suites Auburn - University Area, an IHG Hotel

Okay, the hotel is fine, it’s as good as any other Holiday Inn Express’s you would stay at but the breakfast, oh the breakfast!!!! Monique was the host when I was there and you can tell the grits aren’t a quick hotel grits you’d get anywhere! Monique is a grit magician! I was sick the rest of the day from three bowls of grits but it was worth it. Everything else was fresh and delicious also! Worth the stay just for the breakfast!

I stayed at this hotel for a week in June while visiting a college friend and her family. I have to say that I think the sweetest people in the world work at this hotel. Everyone was always pleasant and my room was very comfortable. For a few days while I was there, the kitchen was undergoing repairs, so there wasn’t any hot breakfast. But the staff still tried to make sure that there were was other food available for breakfast, which was much appreciated. The only thing to be careful of is parking. The lot is quite small and if you get to the hotel late, you might not get a spot. After the second night, I learned not to linger out late so that I could secure a spot. This location is run very well and the staff is super nice and friendly. My only complaint is that they do not provide a clock in the room. This is a growing trend in hotels and I don’t understand it. I get that people use their phones for alarms, but research has shown that you shouldn’t sleep near your phone at night.

This property is well kept and has outstanding employees. I had a great stay for business with a great selection of restaurants nearby. The shower head was great compared to other IHG properties. It had plenty of water pressure. The bed was too soft for me but that was the only downside of the stay. I do tend to prefer a firmer bed.

My daughter had a sports event in the area and this hotel seemed to be a semi-reasonable choice per prior reviews. Since my wife and daughter were staying alone, we needed a family-friendly place. Paid around $400 for 3 nights, which is not cheap. The hotel is inundated with men who are road workers on nearby projects. It appears that the hotel has decided to increase their income and revenue by signing contracts with any construction or road work company they can. My wife and daughter felt unsafe and vulnerable. One night a group of 3-5 men were loudly talking and laughing a few rooms from ours at 2:30 am, and my wife had to call the reception. I called to advise this to the manager named Liz. She admitted they have contracts with working men companies and that the workers are not allowed
