Holiday Inn Express & Suites Asheville Downtown by IHG

My wife and I had a great overnight stay. The service was friendly, the bed was super comfy, the room was clean, and the breakfast and coffee were yummy. We also loved the free parking garage below. It was raining, so it was very convenient to park out of the rain and then take the elevator right to our floor. It was one of the best Holiday Inns we’ve stayed at.

Clean and the staff were super accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was good and fresh, but it didn not change from day to day and thry did not have cinnamon rolls or bacon. The hot tub also wasn’t “hot” so I think that should be disclosed when booking. Overall, the room was clean and smelled nice and it was super easy to get downtown and anywhere else. Would stay again. Great budget friendly option.

I rate this property highly for its locatiion, value, included parking, and great staff. Perhaps because of it's popularity, it does not keep up with the finer details. Was the room clean to appropriate standards? Yes. Was it deep clean? Not my a long shot. Hairs from multiple individuals in bed and bathroom, for example. My room smelled quite strongly of cigarette smoke. I really commmiserate with properties on this specific challenge. If someone smokes, it is so difficult to restore freshness. However, there are two options not followed here - they could alert occupants at check in that this has been flagged, is in process, and offer a small credit of some kind (anything to simply acknowledge it professionally instead of say, put a diamond member in it for four nights and not say a word)

The room and hallways are small which is a building issue but just be aware if you are tall or big it isn't going to be comfortable. The elevator makes a crazy noise, the one on the right. The staff was very nice and welcoming! They were helpful and the place is kept clean. The issue would be the building itself and the care it isn't getting. The pool is not heated and it is freezing!! That was unfortunate as our daughter wanted to swim. The pool tile is uneven and sticking up at the ladder and throughout the pool area. It is a hazard waiting to happen. The window is being eaten away at the pool area. The hotel is not worth the stay as there are better hotels in the area that are maintained and safer. Also, that have heated pools that are actually heated.

Had a great stay here for a girls trip! Honestly wish I had remembered to bring my swimsuit because the pool looked nice. Parking was a bit crazy with lots of speed bumps but they have a small parking garage as well so plenty of spots. Great beds, very clean, nice breakfast and hot showers. What more can you ask for.
