Holiday Inn Express San Antonio N-Riverwalk Area by IHG

Not the best Holiday Inn Express we have stayed in. While we knew it was an old jail, I was expecting a little bit better accommodations. We had a room with two queen beds. The beds themselves were great and the room was clean (except finding a dead cockroach in our room. When I mentioned it to the desk clerk the first time, she had a shocked look on her face and really didn't say much. I have made over 32 stays in less than 2 years with the Holiday Inn group. I say this as I want to clarify this is not my first experience of staying in a hotel. I have even stayed at this property multiple times and found it generally to be acceptable for the price. ||Unfortunately my latest stay prompts me to write a poor review. On Sunday 23rd of November 2025 I stayed at the property. I enquired about the accessible room and the gentleman on duty was even kind enough to show me the room. The next day on the 24th I booked 2 rooms including room 108 which is the accessible room on the ground floor. I did this at 6.45am in the morning at thr front desk to ensure I would get the room I needed. I was told the evening was free and that the room had been assigned to me. The booking was for th

Positive: I like that it was close to the riverwalk — a good walking distance to everything. Negative: I asked multiple times for housekeeping to stop by and after they reassured me at least three times that they would stop by, they never did. My stay was 4 nights.

Hotel is small. Renovated from previous building. Parking is an absolute nightmare beside building. (Drive in, but must back out). Other parking is a two minute walk around the corner. This hotel is downtown, so lots of homeless around building and parking. Cramped breakfast area. Tables and chairs pushed very close together. Tight fit. Coffee machine will only dispense half a cup at a time, but cannot do twice our will overfill. Since hotel is renovated, there's is no ducted AC/Heat. Unit is attached to wall. In my bathroom, must close door to get to toilet. Found hair in my sink every day when I came back from cleaning staff (diff color than mine). Ice machine only on 2nd floor. Breakfast is average. Keurig machine in rooms with microwave and small fridge.

I truly enjoy staying at these hotels and this one was no different. The stay was fabulous. We were warmly welcomed in and the front desk receptionist was outgoing, warm friendly and went above and beyond to help. The room was very spacious and clean. I love how they provide dove products both at the sink and in the shower. The rooms have a safe, coffee and a mini fridge. The parking is very convenient and the charge is more then reasonable. It's within walking distance or food, stores, the Alamo and the riverwalk. The breakfast is extremely good with eggs, cheese omlettes, sausage, cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels, bread, muffins, pancakes and more. It's very clean and the attendant was very attentive to the area.
