Hilton Garden Inn Hilton Head

My second stay here. It is close to many restaurants and shops. Typical hotel experience - a few ok things, a few sub par things. The shower is very low flow. They still have tubs and I prefer a standup shower. Bed isn't the softest but I slept well. The front entrance is not accessible if you have lots of luggage as you need to walk up a flight of steps to get to the lobby. There is a garage around back with an elevator.

I’m sorry to say my experience was less than perfect. I probably should say while my stay was enjoyable enough but when I left my wallet with quite a bit of cash in my room when checking out. Things changed. Needless to say, my fault but I was surprised at the reaction of the front desk…Wallet found but he wouldn’t look inside as I might say he stole the money. Wallet was sent but no cash except for a few coins. When I called to see if they could question how and when it was found. Story changed…wallet was turned in with NO cash in it. So I guess someone looked in it. I asked to have the manager call me No response….I called her and left a message. No response. Again my fault forgetting the wallet but I certainly thought a return phone call was warranted.

I had a very concerning experience checking into this hotel. I arrived after dark following a late flight and found no one at the front desk. There was no signage, bell, or phone number to contact staff. I used the emergency phone outside to call the lobby and called the hotel number multiple times from my phone. I was only able to get inside the hotel because another guest happened to enter and used their key card. Once inside, the lobby was completely empty. I waited for an extended period of time and no staff ever appeared. The front office door was unlocked, with guest room keys, personal belongings, computers left on, Amazon packages, and items for sale sitting out in the open. The kitchen area was also empty. Positive: The room size was great Negative: The gal that runs the Buffet area was awful to me. She yelled at me and called me a liar. I have never been yelled at by staff at a hotel and it was shocking. I spoke to the AM Damon. He tried to be nice and offered us dinner. I didn’t accept.

I stayed at this Hilton Garden Inn for an entire week for work, and unfortunately it was a very frustrating and concerning experience. The entire hotel is under construction, which significantly impacts the stay. The front entrance is not accessible for bringing in luggage, so guests are required to park in the garage underneath the hotel and use the elevators to reach their rooms. These elevators were in extremely poor condition and felt unsafe. They appeared on the verge of breaking down, had walls covered in moving blankets, and the buttons barely worked—you had to press them repeatedly just to select a floor or close the doors.
