Hilton Garden Inn Des Moines/Urbandale

I had a mostly positive stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Des Moines/Urbandale. The room was very clean—no dirty carpet at all—and the bathroom was spotless with no bad odors; in terms of cleanliness, it was truly a 10 out of 10. The lobby staff were super friendly and welcoming. The room had a new, good-sized flat TV with free HBO Max and other entertaining channels, which was a nice touch. Breakfast was well served, and the heating/air conditioning system was quiet, which made the room comfortable. The only negatives were that the mattress was uncomfortable and I needed to use all the pillows to support my back, and although the bathroom was very clean, the shower floor was quite slippery (I actually fell), the shower doors wouldn’t stay closed while showering, the sink splashed water everyw

I would have normally stayed at Marriott but my colleague recommended this property as it was close to our customer. Easily accessible off the freeway with plenty of free parking. There is a Starbucks and several other food establishments just across the road. ||Hilton allow you to check in with the app, and I could choose my room (within the same class) which was nice. The room was ready earlier than the 3pm checkin too. |The girl checking me in was friendly. The room was a decent size with a beautiful large TV (and modern built in set-top box for Netflix). Shower pressure was OK. Bathroom was clean, bed was comfortable. ||There was a super friendly bartender that made a mean Wisconsin sours and the lobby has a cozy feeling to it. The corridors however .. especially on the 6th floor smell

Whoever worked the night shift on the evening and night of November 12 was rude. She hung up without fully ending the call when I had to call the front desk for trouble with our TV, and did the same when my husband called later looking for more towels. When we went down to shop the store she was on her butt and on her phone instead of being attentive when there were guests around. Didn't even glance our way when we asked how to pay, just gestured to the machine and said rudely "It's all self serve." In addition, the room itself was not worth $159+. It was outdated, no bathroom fan, and one of our towels had a creepy stain on it. Lastly, when we booked, the reservation said they had shuttle service from the hotel to the airport. Positive: "" Negative: The sheets were FILTHY and we had to request they change all the bedding. The carpet was covered with dog hair and there were piles of dust and trash in places around the furniture. It was disgusting.

This is a great hotel with a super convenient location off of I-80. My wife and I were very pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of our room, as well as the fact we had a Smart TV. Highly recommend as well given the close proximity to plenty of dining options.
