GrandStay Hotel & Suites Johnston-Des Moines

Our soccer team needed a block of 16 rooms just days before arriving to a rescheduled game in the area. Wanda, the hotel manager, and her team were wonderful in helping us navigate this on short notice! Not only were they patient and accommodating during the booking process, when we arrived at the GrandStay, everyone was extremely happy about the cleanliness of the hotel, the amenities including the pool, breakfast and the in-room shampoo/conditioner, and the positivity coming from all of the staff. We had a wonderful time there, and eating pizza from their recommended restaurant within walking distance was yummy. It turned out to be a wonderful stay for our group. Thank you so much!

This is my second stay at this hotel. I’ve had a great stay both times I’ve been here and plan to return next year. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It’s been peaceful here and we have gotten great rest. The only reason this place lost a start for me is the pool was closed both times I was here. My other complaint and it’s a bigger one for me is the lack of protein or fruit options with breakfast. There were plenty of options for those not concerned about it. But if you have protein goals you aren’t hitting them here. Overall a great stay though.

The room was clean but no ice machine on each floor. You had to go down to the first floor and we were on the 4th. The 1 elevator was busy and slow. The posting said a bar lounge but we didn't find it. The breakfast was lacking, only biscuits, gravy which were cold, only fruit was apples, yogurt, waffles. We were at breakfast area before it opened and there were some tables that had crumbs. Breakfast staff did not look like they wanted to be there. It was located next to the johnston yard and there was a splash pad for kids and music on the lawn one night. They have a pool but we didn't use it

Visiting family and this hotel was in suggested by a family member. It was quiet, staff was friendly and the breakfast was fine with eggs, bacon, waffles, etc. Beds were comfortable. Room had a fridge, microwave, and tv. Will definitely stay here again.

This hotel was great. I enjoyed the breakfast included with my stay. My room was nice, clean, with a comfortable bed. The staff were great, I enjoyed the pool and hot tub and workout room. I have family in the area and it was a great location for me to stay.
