Highway to Haven Family Campground

TERRIBLE! From the moment we arrived, the management style here was rude and unprofessional. Our reservation was mishandled, and instead of fixing it calmly, the owner blamed previous partners and employees. It took over an hour to sort out our spots. Staff interactions were consistently hostile, with yelling and condescending remarks where a simple, polite word would have sufficed. For example, I didn’t notice a “no parking” sign facing sideways to the driver but was SCREAMED at before even getting out of the truck for starting to pull over there. That was just one incident during our 5 night stay. Reading other reviews, it sounds like there is a pattern here with the owner’s approach to his guests. Sandwiched between a busy highway and a railroad track it's hard to hear anything or have a conversation. No full hookups, tight roads and small parking spots with low hanging trees. Not much privacy in showers or toilets. You have to drive through a car dealership to get to the park. Thats very confusing. Otherwise, it's ok. I will say it looks like the new owners are really trying. It's very close to everything and I'm sure in time it will be a great place to stay.

This park is located next to the highway, you will get highway noise. The operators of the park strictly enforce the speed limit, you basically idle around the park. If you don't follow the speed limit they will chase after you in their golf cart. Aside from those oddities, the place is clean but dated. We did not use their shower, as they have water and electricity. The location is good and price is good if you have passport America. The sites are level and have nice large shade trees on most sites. During the week the Wi-Fi worked well not so much on the weekend when they had more people. The grass is will maintained and the campground is very tidy. I would recommend spending a few moments talking with the operators it will make your life easier.

This was such a fun campground we truly enjoyed! Ignore the other rude reviews, the manager Peter is the kindest guy and made the entire start very warm and welcoming. Even made breakfast for the campground on Saturday morning! Yes, it is right by the “highway” but you shouldn’t be surprised since it’s literally part of the name. It truly wasn’t that bad of noise. The grounds were very well maintained and clean. They have fire wood to purchase and what’s a bigger plus is that they will deliver it to your campsite. Highly recommend staying here for a welcoming, family and pet friendly campground.

My wife and I camped for the first time at this campground about 3 weeks ago and the experience was fantastic. We arrived at darg and Peter was very accommodating and help us set up our camper. The management style was very unobtrusive and there were free pancakes the next morning. We were also able to ride our bikes to downtown Benton Harbor and take in everything the area had to offer. We really enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend visiting!
