Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham North Charleston SC

The room was extremely dirty. The floors had not been swept or mopped. The floors had bits of food and spilled liquids everywhere. Even though the room was “smoke free” the trash bag over the smoke detector and overwhelming smell of smoke was terrible. The shower curtain was gross and stained. It hadn’t been washed or replaced and had obviously bacteria growing on the edges. The room we booked was a 2 bedroom suite, and we were provided with 1 towel and 1 wash cloth. This hotel was really bad. I’m usually not one to complain but, I did not even want to lay me head on the bed.

The first experience was great. I we enjoyed ourselves. We will be back. The bed was comfortable. The appliances we’re new. And the room was very clean.

The rooms would be really nice if they were properly taken care of. First walking in, the floor was dirty and sticky, keep your shoes on. The kitchen sink leaked, the downstairs hair dryer didn't work, there was (I'm not joking) a squashed ketchup packet next to the downstairs bed. There was green gunk around the upstairs sink, there was pee on the floor, cigarette burns on the downstairs bed. Honestly, it's not that difficult to clean, especially when you're being paid to do it.

Looking for a room with adequate family space, breakfast and pool included. Was just a one night stay so wasn't looking for anything too pricey, but knew better than to go too cheap. Thought this middle of the road pricing with the discount I was getting through booking.com was the answer. The rooms' layout was great, staff was brief but courteous and that's all I have on the positive side of the list. Negatives, room not clean enough nor maintained enough. Safety definitely is an issue. Don't swim in the pool it's gross. Had to use microwave in hotel lobby because the one in the room had something cooked in it that caused it to fail. Breakfast for kids.....had to go elsewhere they packed it up an hour early even.
