Hampton Inn White Plains/Tarrytown

We choose Hampton Inns for most of our personal and business travel because of their consistency. Clean, updated rooms. A dependable hot breakfast. Friendly staff. It’s a brand we trust. Unfortunately, the Hampton Inn White Plains/Tarrytown in Elmsford does not meet that standard. To begin with the positive, the staff were kind, courteous, and clearly doing their best. They deserve high marks for their attitude and professionalism. The facility itself, however, is dated and in urgent need of renovation. The rooms appear poorly maintained, which makes them feel difficult to keep truly clean. We found hairs in the bathroom that were not ours. I ended up here at 1 AM after a neighboring hotel could not provide me with a room that didn't stink. The service from the night clerk, who was able to set me up with a new room quickly, was top notch - he even got me setup with the loyalty program and water. The room was clean and comfortable and free breakfast in the morning was a big bonus. For a reasonably priced stay in White Plains, I'd definitely recommend this Hampton Inn!

My 2nd time visiting this place this month and both times the pool was closed. The 1st time had a room on the 2nd floor and the receptionist was nice enough to accommodate me and move me to another room due to the carpet smelling moldy and just not pleasant. They explained to me that its the floor they usually allow pets on so its possible the previous guest had a dog and probably soiled the carpet. The 2nd timeI rented there they once again put me on the 2nd floor and this time by the fire exit and the rooms door was literally touching the fire door which kept opening and closing all night long. We thought this will be a good hotel (despite the low reviews) since our Hampton stays have been pleasant in the past, but we were wrong. The minute we walked in, we could tell this place was simply tidied up but not cleaned for a stay. There was grit all over the floor and bathroom so clearly no one had vacuumed, the shower curtain didn’t appear to be clean, the toilet was definitely not clean as there was a brown ring around the water and brown stains in the toilet, there was a big yellow stain on the comforter that we didn’t discover until well into the second day of the stay because of how it was covered up with the textured sheet on top which makes us skeptical that the bedding ever gets washed properly. My wife and I stayed here tonight and were in disbelief at the poor overall physical condition. How can Hilton/Hampton allow this badly run-down hotel to use their name? We've been to many hotels over the years and my wife & I agree we've never stayed at a hotel in such disrepair. The outside grounds are terrible, crumbling cement and trip hazards everywhere. We couldn't believe how gross the side entrance is. Greeted by a large (dry) stain on the carpet entering our room. Had to call front desk to make sure they knew it wasn't from us. Shower tub in poor condition. We stayed at 2 different Home2 Suites previous nights and both were modern, clean & super overall, so how can this place be in the same corporation? Also Hilton chain is great for accepting pets overall but this place i
