Hampton Inn Virginia Beach-Oceanfront South

The hotel room was very clean, and the ocean view was great. The staff and service were also good — everyone we encountered was nice and professional. One front desk employee didn’t seem to be having the best day, but she still helped us out, so it wasn’t a big issue. Breakfast was good, just a standard hotel breakfast. I can’t say much about the location since the city was preparing for a winter storm, so there wasn’t much to see or do during our stay.

Nice hotel, recently renovated. Currently charges for parking. Bath/shower could use an additional assist bar to get in and out of the shower. Toilet is not chair height (would have expected the new toilet to be upgraded). You only get cleaning service and clean towels if you ask, front desk does not ask at checkin. ||Staff is helpful and pleasant. Great access to the beach.

Amazing location ON the beach, with ample free street parking during the offseason and a decent breakfast. Unfortunately, we ran into a few major issues: homeless folks coming in and taking many of the breakfast items, with the security “guard” busy having his breakfast in the back room instead of addressing it. Wouldn’t have been an issue if the folks coming in didn’t cough all over the food as if making a statement as they took stacks of plates. Dog pee in the elevator, likely from the guests attracted to the low rates. Our smokeless room had constant cigarette smells, so we left our deck door open to the 40 degree weather which we didn’t mind. Our sink faucet dribbled out, virtually no water pressure. Positive: Variety of breakfast foods, Large bathrooms, storage shelves under bathroom sink, large balcony, clean Negative: The indoor pool water was so freezing cold my kids could not swim in it ..they were looking fwd to the pool.

Arrived to the most friendly and accommodating guest service representative. She was absolutely amazing. Rooms are clean and new feeling. Very comfortable stay. We came for the light show. You can see a good amount of it from the hotel balcony. The hotel is located at the very start of the light show. Will come back down again
