Hampton Inn Sweetwater, TX

Old hotel. Upon walking thru broken front doors a person can smell the moldy swimming pool. Wallpaper is peeling off walls. This business has a nice front desk clerk. He is efficient and quick to get the reservation in computer. The breakfast was okay. Some of the rooms face interstate so noisy at night. Carpet really worn out in front of elevators. The cleanliness of rooms were okay. Dark parking lots.

We often stay in Hampton Inns. This was the worst. Room 220, a handicapped room:|* The toilet handle was coming off, and you had to hold it down to make it flush.|* The toilet seat was so loose it barely stayed on.|* We were very happy to see that the shower was roll-in. But the shower curtain was too short, too narrow, and water went all over the bathroom floor. My wife almost slipped on it. We put all the bath towels on the floor to soak it up. I chose to go without a shower instead of having to deal with that again. |* There were no washcloths in the bathroom. I had to get some from a maid.|* The ice machine on our floor was broken.|* Tile was falling off in the bathroom in several places.|* No wastebasket in the room, just one in the bathroom.|* This was supposedly a wheelchair access

We had a great night’s rest at the Hampton Inn in Sweetwater Texas. The location is very convenient to the interstate with easy entry and exit. This property is older but is in good condition and is well maintained. Our room was large, quiet and clean.

Positive: Outstanding customer service from the evening front desk to find me a comfortable room. Negative: I will stay here again.

I give this place five stars all the way down the board. Starting with right when we walked in my elderly mother, took a spill, and they rushed to help me pick her up. That’s set the precedence the rest of our stay. Later on my card, didn’t work to get into the Jacuzzi and staff helped me to get in with no issues. The bedding was fresh and beds were comfortable. All of the shower amenities were nice and upscale. They have a really cool live personal assistant that you can text with any needs. They gave me toothpaste for free because I forgot mine. That was a nice touch.
