Hampton Inn Shawnee

Shawnee is not a melody in my head... What a horrific place that puts shame to the Hampton name. If you are into vintage things look no further than Shawnee Hampton Inn. Walking into the lobby is a time machine that takes you to 1985 in the worst way. An old slow needs to be put out of its misery elevator takes you to a dark sad hallway to a 1997 beauty of a room. Picture walking into an old unfinished basement with 80% humidity when someone didn't take the trash out. That's the smell that greets you in the room. Add the decades of dust, a lack of cleaning and you have one petri dish of allergens. I was so tired from driving and the air quality of that place kept me up all night. This hotel is VERY outdated and smells. The outlets in the room won’t hold the plug in. Everything I plugged in fell right out in the bathroom. I had to hold the plug of my charger to get it to work. The shower drains slowly. I’m on the north end of the third floor and can hear the traffic horribly. You can see daylight around the door like it’s not shut all the way. This is NOT the normal Hampton standard. I just assumed oh, it’s the Hampton. I love Hampton’s. But this does not fall in the normal Hampton category. Think twice!

We were traveling through, I got sick unexpectedly, and we had to find a place quickly even though we were only 2 hours from our destination. The staff was very accommodating and very nice. This was our first stay at Hampton Inn and we were pleased. Thankfully I was better the next morning and we were able to complete our trip. We stayed one night. We were there for a funeral. Cayla is awesome! She is the manager. She gave us a bereavement discount. Rooms clean, breakfast was great. All around great stay! Thanks!

Positive: We had a bathroom with a tub and grab bars and shower seat. It was probably the best we have ever had at any hotel. Negative: We heard barking dogs in the hotel at times, but they quieted down about 10:00. I felt like we could smell dog smells in the room from previous guests.
