Hampton Inn Roanoke Rapids

We had a quick one night stay and it was very pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower / plumbing needs a little work but nothing critical. The breakfast was very good. Hotel breakfasts are hit or miss but we were not disappointed as the food was hot and fresh, and the staff attending to the breakfast were very friendly and attentive. You can tell they take pride in their work, which I always appreciate. If I pass through town again this will be where I stay.

Our room was spotless, which is a top priority. Checking in was pleasant and welcoming. But things in the room felt a bit tired. Pillows were lumpy, sheets were tired, towels felt old. Then we realized that mattress was also lumpy, and the temperature controls in the shower weren't working. Everything was just a bit off. I'm not saying that you should avoid staying here, but I am surprised this Hampton Inn popped up as number 1 in Roanoke Rapids. It's not at a level I would expect from a Hampton Inn.

What you expect in a Hampton Inn... unlike the one 20 minutes north in Emporia, Virginia. It's not fancy, but you aren't paying for fancy. The staff were kind and professional. They offered my Honors reward with a smile. It was a clean, relatively modern room with WiFi that worked well and a bed that left you able to walk the next morning. The room had a larger-than-typical fridge and a microwave. It had a Smart TV and furnishings from the this century. The floors and furniture in the room were clean, free from stains and in working order. My only complaint was that I couldn't find a pet-walk area and station with poo bags/trash can.

We stayed here last night as a spur of the moment decision on the way home from a very long trip. I had read a couple of the reviews first and a couple of people mentioned it was dated but overall cleanliness and a good sleep seemed to rank well. Even though I have stayed in this area before, I had not stayed at this particular Hampton Inn. But here’s what I can tell you. The beds were comfortable, our room was very clean, the man who did my check in last night was as kind as he could be and there happened to be a king room he could Upgrade me too and he did. But had that not been available he still was very friendly and informative.
