Hampton Inn Martinsburg

Although the hotel was clean it is extremely outdated. Never before have I stayed in a hotel that the room closet is a shower rod and curtain covering a clothes pole attached to one of the walls in the room. The furniture was probably new in the year 2000, the ceiling plaster in the bathroom is crumbling, the elevators are extremely noisy and slow I believe I could walk up the 5 flights of stairs quicker.

I feel it's hard to go wrong with the Hampton Inn. Always good, clean, and reliable. I was taking a road trip down I-81 and needed a place to overnight close to the interstate. This was a very short stay, in after midnight and out the next morning. My room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Not fancy, but I did not expect it to be. I took advantage of the complimentary breakfast which is always good enough, and a couple of cups of coffee. All the staff I encountered were friendly.

Rooms aren't cleaned every day; you have to request it. I've learned this is pretty typical for post-COVID longer stays at budget hotels. The front desk was helpful in providing housekeeping after it was requested. If you're staying in the summer, check your fridge and a/c unit before unpacking to make sure they work. Good breakfast provided daily.

Positive: I stay here frequently. The staff is great and generally responsive, maintenance less so especially over the weekend. It's in a great location for walking to anything you could possibly need. It's a solid choice for a stay in Martinsburg. Negative: Filters were expired for all water fountain/bottle refill stations... for at least two weeks. I was mostly able to get bottled water from the front desk.

The staff (Keri-Anne) was great. I arrived around midnight to find my room was not made. The concern on her face said it all. She managed to upgrade my room. The next morning as I'm heading out, she packed a couple of oranges and an apple in a bag and handed it to me and wished me safe travels. Thanks Keri-Anne!
