Great Mackinaw Beachfront Hotel

Place looks neglected upon arrival. Room looked remodeled recently but still needed some updating. Sand seemed to blow into the room somehow (even with door shut) and was like walking on the beach by nighttime. Shower took approximately 10 minutes to get hot water. (Not exaggerating) I even called the desk, and they said to let it run. Could be nice place with some better maintenance.

Classic beachy hotel with sand to your doorstep. Not fancy, but my kinda vibe. Older building with dated amenities but still has that local Great Lakes charm with firepits, balconies overlooking the beach, and comfy beds. The fireworks were spectacular from the back door, and everything is conveniently located closeby. Restaurants and the ferry to Mackinac Island are just a few blocks away. Definitely a decent choice for a reasonable beach hotel.

I see a lot of bad reviews so I stayed here lol. Overall I was happy. Room was super clean but smelled of the new wood they put up. Couple of weird things was the hot tub was almost overflowing so it was 5 feet deep. Also no elevator which seems crazy. Still wasn't as bad as most of these reviews.

First of all, this is now called Blue Water Beachfront Hotel. I made my reservation through AAA in early June and received an email confirmation under the name Great Mackinaw Beachfront Hotel. We had quite a bit of trouble finding the establishment due to the address being 907, not 909, and the name being different. I was told the place had been sold about a month before. It seems like someone should have informed me that it had a new name. |I would not call this place a "hotel". The doors open to the outside and there are really no amenities you would expect from a hotel. This is a motel. They say they have a pool or "waterpark", but I was told it was being renovated and was not open. Not a problem, as the beach is right behind the motel. There is no elevator. We were on the th

Do not stay at this hotel! Terrible customer service and hospitality. Our room has black mold and they refused to refund us. They finally got us a new room and it was 1/3 of the size and refused to give us the lower rate for the smaller room. During the process of moving rooms we went back to the first room and they had already given it to someone else. Mind you at this point we still have stuff in this room!! And we had showered in the room and it was not cleaned in between customers. Absolutely disgusting. Beware of this hotel.
