Such a cute and comfortable place to have a girls weekend! Kathryn was an amazing host and has thought of everything. The cabins are beautifully decorated and well appointed, the beds are comfortable, and the suggested excursions were super helpful when planning our trip. Gold River Camp is easy to get to and conveniently located and close to cute towns such as Marion, Tryon, Old Fort and Lake James, and surrounded by all levels of hiking and outdoors activities. We really enjoyed our stay and day visits to waterfalls, wineries, and local antique stores and our nights at local eateries and by the River and fire pit. I definitely recommend Gold River for anyone who wants a relaxing stay in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
I stayed at Gold River with my immediate family in 2024, and then had my wedding here in Oct 2025. It was a few weeks ago and I’m still on cloud nine! Everything was absolutely perfect. The campground was clean and beautiful, so much attention to detail everywhere. Our hosts were extremely communicative and gracious. They let us decorate how we liked, allowed us to borrow a ladder, set up a movie night (with flavored popcorn!) for us and our guests, hooked us up with BRILLIANT caterers, set up chairs at the ceremony site for us, and were all around delightful. This is the perfect campground, whether you want some time away to enjoy the blue ridge, or a unique and gorgeous place to host a weekend event. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you for everything, Gold River. :)
It was such a privilege that we had the opportunity to stay at Gold River for a few days. We stayed in the glamping tents in order to have a couple of amenities available, yet still be adjacent to the perks of primitive camping. The 2 beds in the glamping tent were surprisingly comfortable, and there were plenty of blankets, including heated ones, to go around—and they were well-needed considering the nighttime temps crawled down to about 30 degrees during our visit. Although our four-day visit was very rainy, we were able to find comfortable refuge for meals and group activities in the covered pavilion space, which also has a wood stove that we started a fire in every morning and night. The communal restrooms and showers (separate from each other) were very clean and the water was hot, w
Ruff experience.. After checking in, we noticed a very strong sewer smell coming from the home. In trying to figure out where this came from, we noticed the drain line was broken under the tiny home causing sewer gas to vent. Great response from the owner the next morning, hence the extra star added, however by this time my group woke up not feeling well from the long night and had to cut our trip short. Added note, "The coop" is about 10 feet from a very busy US 221.
we had our wedding here last year. rented out the entire campground for the weekend. to this day everyone still talks about it. I wish we had more pictures to share of the area but we were too busy enjoying it!! It was absolutely gorgeous and the accommodations were perfect for everyone. cabins, yurts, washrooms and shower rooms were perfect. we had a great time together as a group and spending the day after in the river. it was a great space for adults and kids - great bonding place truthfully. the hosts were AMAZING! incredibly helpful and friendly. couldn't ask for better hosts honestly. I cannot recommend this place enough! we are hoping to come back this summer with some friends :)
