Glendale Express Hotel

I recently stayed at this hotel in Glendale. Personally, I didn’t have a bad experience with the staff or the stay itself, but I was honestly surprised by how outdated and worn many things inside the unit were. The tables and chairs looked extremely old, and the bathroom, including the sink, faucet, and tub fixtures, felt like they were from the 1990s or even earlier. I understand this isn’t meant to be a luxury hotel, but it’s also not priced like a budget stay. With relatively small, one-time upgrades, the overall experience could improve dramatically. The morning coffee setup in the lobby was also disappointing. Cleanest room I’ve had in a long time. The hotel may be old but you can tell the staff prioritizes cleanliness of sheets, bedding, kitchen space, and bathroom and that’s truly what matters. It’s SO cute inside they’re modernized the feel of a “motel” but have kept the cute trinkets and it’s not cluttered or dusty. Cute record player playing in the lobby, really clean signage and atmosphere. A lobby i would actually sit in and chill, and very friendly night time staff. Morning staff wasn’t as friendly but maybe it just was their day. I’d pick this spot over and over, they’re doing renovations on part of the rooms and I’m excited to see what happens next for the Glendale (:

Positive: "" Negative: Hotel room service was upon request only, but denied due to being short staffed. Some rooms are clearly out of order. Had to be moved rooms at check-in due to bed not being made. Entire hotel is outdated (flooring, fixtures, furniture, elevators, etc.)

Do NOT stay here unless you are comfortable sleeping with COCKROACHES. The moment we entered our room, we saw a small cockroach on the wall. At first, we tried to brush it off, but shortly after, two more appeared. At that point, my family and I knew this was a serious issue and immediately reported it to the front desk. Unfortunately, the staff’s response was dismissive and unprofessional. Rather than showing concern, we were simply told, “I’m sorry you feel that way. Would you like to switch rooms?” No urgency, no accountability, and no reassurance whatsoever. After switching rooms, we inspected the new room and, unsurprisingly, found yet another cockroach. We stayed here for the weekend and the room was reasonably priced per day. Staff was friendly and greeted us as soon as we made eye contact. The gentleman checking us in was very helpful, providing us with a map of the property, showing us the different exits/entrances of the building. The lobby was decorated with fall decor, giving the space a welcoming feeling. As soon as I stepped foot in the door, the room felt and smelled clean! I didn’t get to use the pool, but it looks well kept. There’s plenty parking so you don’t have to worry about looking for street parking. Glendale Express is right in the heart of Glendale with so many restaurants and malls at walking distance, but far enough from the craziness the neighboring cities may have. Highly recommend!
