Galveston island beach camping

We camped here for the first time this past weekend. Although, someone was parked in our paid and reserved spot, security was able to resolve the situation by giving us an overflow campsite. We liked that each spot has its own pavilion with a picnic table and fire pit, as well as electric hookup. The bathroom/shower house was large and pretty well maintained for a public campground (although the men's reeked of urine and the women's door is covered in mold). Beach access is also close and effortless, as well. We also liked that there was security actively patrolling the premises. The biggest issue we had was checking in after dark, and calling for assistance with our campsite. The sign-in kiosk had no lamp or nearby light to be able to fill out their form.
