Four Winds Motel

BED BUGS! A group of us reserved three rooms for a one night stay. When we arrived at our "Non smoking" room, there was an intense cigarette smell but we didn't notice bugs until later into the stay. When we returned later that evening we noticed bugs on both the sheets and on our clothes. There was no one working the front desk at that time so we were unable to get new rooms and had to sleep in our cars. When we notified the manager the next morning he told us it was impossible (despite us showing him the pictures we took as proof) and told us there were no bed bugs. He also blamed us for bringing them into the motel with us. He refused to refund us for our stay. The 4 story hotel is 1 block from the north end of the boardwalk. There are a few parking spaces by the small pool on the western side of the building & a lot around back to the south. The outdoor metal stairs have been through a lot but the black paint is fresh, no peeling. The pool is mostly in the shade. ||||When we arrived for the off season there was a note on the office door with a phone #. The owner / manager apparently lives in the house next door. ||||They are strict about the no early check in policy & check out is early: 10:00 a.m. ||||Upon entering the room, it had that typical Jersey shore motel smell. The room had a tile floor & 2 double beds with ugly brown patterned bed spreads. The sheets were while, cool, crisp & clean. The pillows were thin; even using the set

Not a very pleasant experience at this hotel. Arrived Friday late afternoon and checked in. Room was very old looking, it appeared as if it hadn't been updated in decades. It wasn't very clean either. Beds were horrible. It felt like sleeping sideways as one side of the bed tilted downwards. After the first night, we were already feeling sore and tired from not sleeping well. Saturday morning I wanted to get an early start so I attempted a shower only to find no hot water. Tried to contact management but no one in the office and no one would answer the phone. A few hours later I finally got someone on the phone who started yelling at me that I had to run the water for 20 minutes and then it would get hot. Seriously. This is one of the WORST motels we have ever stayed at. The guy lied about the price of the room over the phone when my daughter called. When we got there, he wanted $700 more on top of the $270 deposit she gave over the phone. That was for 7 people in a two bedroom. Then when they got the room, the beds were horrible. Mattresses were full of mold, sheets were dirty. She went to the office and complained and they switched her room which wasn't much better, one of the sheets were full of blood.. Our room wasn't too bad, except the boxspring on the one bed is all tore up and dirty and needs to be thrown away. My other daughters room, beds were also nasty and in the bathroom was a dirty towel with what looked like a squashed dead bug and blood on it also. So we will definitely NOT be coming

Had the displeasure of renting and “apartment” for this passed weekend. We were given unit 5, but we arrived 15 minutes before check in (2pm). We were told they would be finished cleaning the room by 2. no problem, we wanted to run to the acme to get some snacks and drinks anyway. We come back at 2:50 to find the room is still being cleaned. Okay, we wait. We realize, the mop bucket is downstairs, is filthy and not once did they run down the stairs to ring it out. So we complain. They say they will return with a clean bucket and mop again. We go in to see put our bags on the bed so we can go to the beach. The fridge was gross, the stove was dirty. Found dried food on the walls next to the beds, the bedroom on the right had a soft floor, we were afraid to walk on it. The floor was o
