Far Flung Outdoor Center

We had a fantastic 6-hour jeep tour with Lauren! You could immediately tell she loves her job and is passionate about the Big Bend area. She shared so much great information about the rock formations and native plants and even took photos of us at the well-known landmarks around Big Bend. Such a fun and memorable way to experience this beautiful area! She also gave us great tips and advice for our hiking trip the next morning! Highly recommend the Jeep tour with Far Flung and LAUREN!!

Had an amazing time at Far Flung. Everyone was super friendly. We did two excursions. ATV in the morning with Carl and Molly and canoeing in the afternoon withTony and crew. We also stayed in one of the Casitas and it was wonderful. Enjoyed the hot tub and pool and the beautiful scenery. Enjoyed it so much cant wait to go back! Thank you all!!

We stayed 2 nights at Far Flung in late February, and it was the perfect home base for exploring Big Bend National Park. The room was very comfortable and clean. While the shower stall itself was on the small side, the water was hot and strong, the towels fluffy, so this serves more as a heads up than a reason to take away a star! We enjoyed the firepit, star-gazing from the hot tub, and the good coffee from onsite coffee stand, Bella Bean. We got the recommendation at check-in to hoof it over to the Starlight Theater before 5 for dinner, and we made it by 5:15, with a 45 minute wait to be seated, so I appreciated the insider knowledge. Everyone was super friendly on staff, and the grounds very well kept.

Driving up to Far Flung is a bit daunting, if you're from lusher climates the area around it looks harsh and being candid, a bit downscale. But our stay there couldn't have been better. The cabins were spotless, very well set up, and the overall location is terrific to visit Big Bend and the area around it. In case you haven't looked, that part of Texas is about 3 steps below empty, not many people, buildings, or services. But so worth the trip! Big Bend is my 30th national park, and is easily in my top half if not my top 10 favorites! (top 10 is tough when you're comparing to Yellowstone, Glacier, Acadia, Zion, Arches, Bryce, Yosemite, RMNP, Grand Canyon etc). the staff was awesome and answered smart and stupid questions with style and grace. This was my third time staying at the Big Bend Casitas/Far Flung Outdoor Center. I truly love staying there as all of the staff are so warm, friendly and eager to help in any way. The casitas are comfortable, clean and cozy. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful to behold. The evening campfire is always a favorite. And of course, the bunnies and birds are such a joy to watch! I can't wait until my next stay there!
