Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites South Hill I-85

We booked as a friends get together to celebrate my 70th birthday. What a disappointment! We checked in and found our rooms were not adjoining as requested. No suites as requested. Bugs in lobby and pool was filled with green slime and unusable. The reason I gave it 2 stars was the staff was nice. It certainly was NOT up to the Marriott standards. Was so disappointed. We left after 2 nights since we all traveled from different states. I stayed in a Hilton in Staunton, Va on our way home. Much nicer!!

I normally choose Hampton, but detest the Hampton in South Hill. Chose the Fairfield and I loved it. Employees were kind and helpful. LOVED the room. Furniture very comfortable. Clean, friendly hotel. Large bath towels, another plus. My only concerns were that the shower/tub was very slippery, and the bottom sheet had a cut/slit in it and the top sheet had 2 big stained areas. I have to admit, I revised my review a bit lower after seeing the sheets. I'm a huge stickler on clean crisp bedding. If the bedding was up to par I would have given it 5 stars. Also, the mandatory $5 charge to park there, hit me wrong. Morning coffee cold....big mistake for travelers.

Positive: I was able to set the temperature to my liking and I had a good nights rest. It was very quiet there. Negative: My room was not clean and I had to go to the front desk to get cleaning supplies to wipe down the surfaces. The surfaces had drink stains and sticky residue on them as if they had not been wiped down.

Have to give 5 stars. I sayed New Years Eve on my way home to Easton, MD from Hendersonville, NC. I was very please with every aspect of the operation - good price, clean room, good breakfast and easy access. I have never stayed at a Fairfield Inn. I will not hesitate to stay again.

Hotel staff was friendly, water pressure and temp in the shower was fantastic! The beds are a bit firm. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was decent.
